Associated membership

(Querist) 24 February 2015 This query is : Resolved
Sir,

My understanding is that an Associated Member as per Maharashtra CHS Rules has to be a joint member and his/her name has to appear 2nd on the share certificate. He/she can participate, vote and/or join the Managing Committee subject to 1st Member surrendering the rights.

Latest News Paper article says even the non-member can be a Associated Member provided the required form on Rs.100 stamp is filled and duly signed by the Member of the Society. If this is true can such a non-member whose name does not appear on the Share Certificate join the Managing Committee and whether he/she can have the voting rights.

Please clarify - Thanks Roland Noronha

Sir,
In order to become an associate member of a CHS, the name of that person HAS to be included on the share certificate, otherwise he/she can neither vote nor can get elected to the Managing Committee.
You may refer Bye-Laws 19B and/or 19C of Model Bye-Laws of Co-Operative Housing Socieites 2014.
Good Luck,
Kishor Mehta
