"buyer beware" is an all time maxim as purchaser only is responsible for any defects in quality,quantity or documentation while purchsing.
but you can make seller liable for all above defects , if he deviates from what is agreed and accepted in writing (say after accepted in writing your purchase order).this is in nutshell.
