Dear Sirs,
Many members in our society in Mumbai has altered and converted their 1 BHK flat in to 2 BHK by converting kitchen in a small bed room and passage in to a kitchen. None of the member has increase the original area of the flat. Further, the beam and pillars also remained untouched. Society has no objection for the same.
Is this changes is allowable? can any one lodge a complaint to authority (BMC) againt these alternation already made? Please reply.

with property prices touching the roof it is difficult for middle class to afford a 2 bedroom flat .
a member desiring to carry out renovations in flat needs society permission .
society cannot grant any member permission to do structural alterations .
in case a member desires to do so he has to obtain BMC permission .
if you complain to BMC against a member then BMC will issue notice to member after taking inspection if structural alterations have been made
