Tenants rights in honouring notice period

(Querist) 24 September 2011 This query is : Resolved 
I am staying in a rented house for almost 2 years and last month i informed Landlord i'm vacating house.He said as per rental agreement you have to honour the notice period of two months ends on october 17 2011.

I decided to move out of house by sept 30th.in this case i am ready to pay rent for remaining 17 days(as notice ends on oct 17).

is LL have right to ask for full month rent ?

You are liable only for 2 month's notice period and LL is not entitle to recover any amount more than the agreed period.

YOU NEED TO PAY THE RENT FOR PERIOD AGREED,GENERALLY RENT IS PAID MONTHLY AND SINCE YOUR NOTICE PERIOD IS EXPIRING ON 17th
unless expressly provided in the agreement that it would be payable for part of the month,the land lord may be deemed justified in claiming the rent for entire October.
