Before family court party's absence not a big issue.. Because family court will be some liberal than magistrate courts.. If any problem mean counsel may file an adjournment petition under order 17. Rule 1 of cpc.

His advocate can submit orally and can pray for time. It is not necessary to submit any affidvit.

It depends up on practice of court that it entertains oral or application or application supported with affidavit.
