Hiding Status

Guest (Querist) 02 December 2010 This query is : Resolved
Iam getting divorced, now i want to pursue my studies further. But in the admission form i don't want to write that iam divorcee, because if i will write that in my degree it will be written as MRS xyz, instead of MISS, which will create problems in future, i don't want all that. I know hiding facts is not good, but here its about a degree and education ,iam not lying to remarry,or not fooling anybody. i just don't want to write that iam married because in some time i will get divorced.

1- so i want to ask that this can create any legal problem or not in my case???
2-can my college create any legal problem ????

It is very difficult to answer. You don't want to show you are divorcee. So better consult the principal of the college and say your problem he can solve it.

Is there any column in the Application form asking (1) Your marital status? If yes, then you have to indicate the correct marital status - either not married or married.
If you do not reveal correctly the status, then you would be guilty of suppressing the real facts and it may haunt you in future in any of the legal tangles.
In case there is no such column in the Application Form, you can simply say Ms.... instead of Miss or Mrs.

Thanks for replying. BUt i have a question mr ramachandran sir...how can it haunt me in future, just an admission form and its status , how can that haunt me in future??? I don't have any other option about MS, its about married column and unmarried column, their is no option of column for divorce. So either MISS or MRS,In few days i won't be married anymore,so how can i write married, people will ask me so many questions. so if i write unmarried how can that hamper me in future ?? i mean iam not going to fool anybdy for a remarriage, nor iam going for a job rightnow. It is not actually about supressing the fact, but i have no option. So please tell me, guide me that what kind of problem can arise in future for this??? Even film actors & models supress their marital status for careers but no court create any issue with that ??? I just want to know:
1- how can this create legal problems in future??? give me an example ?
2- any punishment or something is their??

Dear Anonymous,
If there are two columns (marreid or unmarried) you have to say either married or unmarried. If u are married but if you fill up as unmarried you are fooling the College Authorities. Currently (i.e. at the time of making the Application) what is your marital status that is what you have to indicate in the Application Form. What you will be in future (say within 15 days or one month or two months hence) is not the question.
While there may not be any punishment, but such incorrect filling up of information is not correct.
