query regarding REFUND OF STAMP DUTY

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 25 October 2010 This query is : Resolved 
I wish to ask that if I had cancelled the deal of buying a property for which my stamp duty was paid.. I wish to seek refund for the same... If I have filed the papers for REFUND OF STAMP DUTY.. in how much time must i get the refund.. or else where can i follow up in the stamp duty office...

It is generally by the DG of Stamps, the Registrar office in the state concerned. It takes about 3 months at least. Otherwise you can ask the stamp vendor who has sold you the stamps to get it done through him for some fees to him.

The refund is not by the Registration Dept. It is made by the Tahsildhar of the Revenue Dept. You have to approach the concerned Revenue head of your Taluk and expedite.

yes but the department varies. In Bengal it is the Govt Treasury which does this thing.
