Domestic Voilence against wife and teenage daughters

(Querist) 03 October 2019 This query is : Resolved
my sister's husband is Assistant Sub Inspector, has been beating her and for the past couple of years and mentally harassing her. She has registered a complaint against her but he still continues to mentally harass her. What should be the next step to be taken and if a divorce situation comes, what will be the outcome of this?

Instead of resorting to legal remedy put social pressure on her husband and try to resolve the issue(s) amicably.
You may opt for matrimonial counselling if required.

Dear Raju,
In case divorce application is filed your sister can always claim maintenance of herself and for her daughter and live peaceful life.

The facts posted are inconsistent - how is that she is being mentally harassed? Is it only case of 'mental harassment? Where has the complaint been lodged. Anyhow, it could certainly be said that no police official has the licence to harass his wife and children; on the contrary they are more accountable to law.
