Dear All need urgent suggestion,
Daughter in law is not staying with us from the last 1 year (and has taken 2 1/2 year son with her to her parents house and staying with them) and is not willing to resume her married responsibilities.
They have sent a word through one common friend that either take the girl back or pay 10 lacs to them. In this case we have never once said that we won't be taking the girl back as we have never sent her back to her family. On pretext of spending a week with her family she has gone to her parents place. Which we conveyed the same to the mediocre family as the question does not arise of paying money when we haven't sent her to her family home. During this she once came to our place to collect her gold set from our place along with one local mahilla mandal member. She herself is not willing to come back and resume her responsibilities. Her parents are also supporting her in this.
We have never said anything to her and never asked any money/dowry from her. We are educated middle class family. We are staying in Mother's house gifted to her by her mother. There is mother in law, 2 sister in laws (both unmarried).
Kindly suggest what sort of dv case she can put on us as we are in a fix and how we can save ourselves.
(Please note the house is mother in law's and its gifted to her by her mother and not of daughter in law's).
Also i'm concern whether she can put false case on my unmarried daughters as both are of marriage able age now.

you first make complaint that aforesaid reason at police station, if she filing the case she only prove it the cruelty and DV, so dont worry.

Sorry. Police complaint will not be good one in this situation. Just try to bring her back with aid of elders. Or your son can just send a legal notice for reunion. There will be any fruitful result.

It is difficult to foresee what sort of cases the girl is going to file.
It is always better to amicably settle the issue but till that happen there is no harm if you keep the local Police posted about the developments.

If they conveyed that either take a girl back or pay Rs 10 lacs , this condition put by girls parents itself is absurd. You also reside in their gifted house so they are taking disadvantage. Try to convice through good mediator for amicable settlement. Avoid, Police interference, it will spoil the situation.

There are various Laws are existing to secure the woman from the unsafe marital life. But she is still suffering .Man fails to realise the role of a woman in a family life and still he is thinking to keep her as slave and under him.Male partners needed to change according to the society .

Dear Uma,
There is always two sides of coin. I'm a educated female (mother in law) too and i have daughters too. We treated her as a daughter only that's what i'm / my family is paying for it today by being mentally harassed. As per you it means that law is just for daughter in laws and they can only be torture by in laws and not vice versa. Then please wake up. Don't make fun of others genuine problem. Here i'm seeking help by sharing my problem from serious lawyers and not joking around. You never know when the same problem can strike you as one day you too will become a mother in law.
If you can't suggest unbiasedly, then please don't insult womenhood by proving that women is the enemy of women only. It saddens me that education bestowed on you is wasted upon as you are not willing to see the bad part of a coin. Your mind is painted with one side pain. Atleast being a sufferer i'm still not saying anything against the law as it might be useful to some needy but you can't ignore the misuse being done by wrong minded people.
Your answer really is confusing for the query asked with faith and hope of ray.
