EOL does not count for any promotion. Only on medical grounds does the EOL count for pension service.
Dr. J C Vashista (Expert) 09 January 2025
EOL has no affect on promotion of an employee, if it has been approved /sanctioned.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 09 January 2025
Extra Ordinary Leave (EOL) can affect an employee's promotion unless the relevant rules specifically exclude it. EOL taken for private reasons is not counted towards an employee's increment, but it can be counted towards pension for up to three years
P. Venu (Expert) 10 January 2025
It is the general rule that any type of leave duly sanctioned, counts as period of service unless there are specific provisions to the contrary. Please ascertain the factual position through application under the RTI Act.
Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Expert) 12 January 2025
Each leave is entered in Service Book.

The RI may not be admissible on disclosed information.

EOL is one of the admissible leave. Even if no such leave is sanctioned and there can be dies non. Still that does not result in loss of any seniority.
