If you have no monetary sources to appoint a lawyer then file application to seek free legal aid from the court.

yes you cna argue your own case
Shonee Kapoor (Expert) 08 November 2011
Criminal cases would be fought by Public Prosecutor on behalf of the state.

Complainant can engage a counsel/ do his/her own arguments with the permission of the court only.

A CRIMINAL CASE IF COGNIZABLE AND NON COMPOUNDABLE IS TREATED AS AN OFFENCE AGAINST
THE STATE FOR WHICH A PUBLIC PROSECUTOR IS APPOINTED IN EVERY COURT TRYING THE OFFENCE.IN SUCH CASES PRIVATE SUBMISSIONS EITHER BY VICTIM IN PERSON OR BY HIS PRIVATELY ENGAGED COUNSEL MAY BE POSSIBLE
BY PERMISSION OF COURT OR CONSENT OF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR.

IN ALL OTHER CASES CIVIL OR CRIMINAL IT IS THE LIBERTY OF PARTY HOW IT PRESSES ITS RIGHT OR CHOOSES TO DEFEND,PERSONALLY OR THROUGH A LAWYER.

court will ask if you need any legal assistance. if you want you can have it by way of legal aid. otherwise if you know the legal pleas you can argue.
