Cancellation of registration of the marriage

Hi,
We have registered our marriage under Special Act,we belong to different religion. Date has been finalized,we didnt marry by any rituals. now due to his parents opposition we have called off this relation and marriage.

Query : Since documents have been given and date has been fixed for registered marriage under Special Act. I want to cancel the registration,as it shouldn't affect my future. Please help me with the procedure,as the date of register marriage is 6th Jan 2012.

Your absence on fixed date is enough to avoid marriage.

I agree with arvind. applying for a registration is not sufficient for registered marriage. You may also give a letter for cancellation of registration of marriage. Better to give a letter regarding cancellation.

Issue a letter regarding your cancellation of proposed marriage registration to the Registrar of marriages well in advance so that the chapter may be closed for ever.

A letter stating your intention to cancel the application for registered marriage is required to be submitted before the concerned Marriage Officer as well as you ask for a copy of your accepted letter for your future reference and proof.

send a registered letter statings you reasons for cancelling the fixation of marriage and be absent on that day.

Send Notice to proposed wife, Registrar thru Advocate for cancellation , by RPAD/ Speeed post, now. within 2 days.

Also issue a Application thru your Adv, on 6-2-12 for cancellation. Let it be on record.

If the Certificate is not issued then your refusal to complete the procedure of marriage is sufficient to cacell the registration of your marriage.
However if the Registration Certificate is already issued then withing for 1 year and going for mutual divorce is the only option.

What is the need to issue notices, if the marriage is not complete, it is not marriage at all.

Preperation of marriage is not same as marriage.

Thanx for the advice. Need to know is it important for me to cancel an application and is it important to submit application to Mumbai registrar in regards of cancellation.
