In an apartments complex in Chennai the Secretary of the association looking after the maintenance disconnected water supply of one of the members. The reason was that he had allegedly left the tap open and wasted water. The member denied the allegation and asked the Secretary to restore water supply. The Secretary asked him to pay a penalty of Rs.1500/-. There is no byelaw or law for that. The member went to the police and complained. After making inquiries the sub-inspector at the police station ordered the Secretary to restore the water supply. The Secretary is still refusing to comply with the order of the sub-inspector. Can a person refuse to disobey the legitimate order of a sub-inspector? If he does so what further can the member do or ask the police to do?

Sir/Madam,
I joined in 2006 as Library and Information Assistant with the basic 9300-34800, Grade Pay 4,200 and got MACP after completion of 10 years of Service so the employer fixed the next grade pay of 4,600. After one year of MACP I have been promoted to a Senior Library and Information Assistant post having grade pay of 4,200. Here the employer is saying that there won’t be any monitory benefit. Kindly help me in this regard.

Hi, For a vacant approved plot purchased, the approach road is to pass through 24feet and then through 20feet. When construction plan was applied to CMDA, the officials stated that 20feet road is considered as a passage, but 24feet road has to be handed over through gift deed to corporation. This was not done by land owner at the time when this land was divided into plots and approval was received. Now the land owner is hesitant to reach out to concerned officials to perform this. As CMDA not approving on construction plan, is there a way to move forward to overcome this issue.

Recovery suit
Plaintiff files a suit for recovery against defendant no.1, 2 &3 and def no. 1 is only a freight and forwarding agent appointed by defendant no. 2 and the plaintiff made the goods for defendant no. 3 which is out of country. Now whats the remedy with defendant no. 1. The def no. 1 only got Rs 15000/- and now he is claiming Rs 60 lacs from the defendant. The goods were delivered to def no. 3 and he did not make the payments. Does multimodal transport act come into picture?
