Annual general meeting

I wish to hold annual general body meeting of my society on 2nd October,2011. Can I hold the same on the said date i.e 2nd October,2011. Being a national holiday am i restricted from doing so?

the AGM has to be held by 14th August . have you applied for and taken extension from registrar of cooperative societies .

yes you can hold AGM on 2nd October if you have followed the procedure

Yes, if you have applied for extension with the Registrar of co-operative societies, make sure to give 21 days notice to the members with agenda.

is your society a cooperative society ????

or a NGO or a bar association?? what??? you did not tell and left us to guess?? hence i decline to guess.
In case it is a cooperative society opinion express above is accurate.

I don't think there should be any objection in holding of the AGM on 2nd October in the case of the society, as it is a cooperative body of members and you are not calling employees on duty on a national holiday. As a cooperative measure, members of the society can gather on any day to transact the business, which is in their mutual interest, not as a matter of profit of a business entity or factory.

However, if you call an employee of the society to assist the management, you may have to compensate him with double the amount of daily/hourly wages, as Overtime Allowance on the prescribed dailly/hourly wages of the state in which the society functions.

You can"t hold the meeting of the society on any national holiday,you can do it on any holidays comes under NI Act.

However try to avoid it for any objections.
