(Querist) 17 December 2012 This query is : Resolved 
sir
The penalty for 279 IPC is seen 1000 rupees or imprisonment for six months or both.(as i have read) But i have never seen or heard a person is convicted to imprisonment WHY SO ?
queries.
1.whether to give imprisonment is the sole descreation
power of the magistrate?
2.could you remember any verdict of giving imprisonment for 279 ipc(even the convict is ready to pay the penalty) .
