What is glr and property tax

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 07 November 2020 This query is : Resolved
Dear Team,

My property is in Pune cantonment area and Municipal asking for GLR extract to submit the property Tax.
What is GLR and its importance in submission of Property tax? Is it mandatory to give property papers long with GLR extract to MC while depositing Property Tax?
Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the need for a GLR (Guideline Rate) extract when submitting property tax in Pune, particularly for properties in the cantonment area. The Municipality requires the GLR to assess property location, identify subdivisions, and determine tax liability. While property papers might not always be mandatory alongside the GLR, obtaining the Guideline Rate from the Sub-Registrar of Assurances (SRO) or online is crucial. For cantonment areas, coordinating with cantonment authorities is advised, and seeking information via RTI is also suggested.

For the purpose of assessment/revision of prperty tax location is cosidered significant and also to ascertain any sub division effected within, the Municipality require this.

If Department has asked GLR extract, only same has to be provided.

It is better that requisite information is sought under RTI.
