Use of rti

Can RTI be used to get records of properties owned by my father and grandfather.
Sailesh Kumar Shah (Expert) 23 March 2012
Yes, but it is third party information, so without your father/grandfather's consent, you can't get information under section 11.

Thanks, my father inherited properties from my grandfather which later went to my brother and were either sold and reinvested or transferred. Can i get the information may be from the municipal records. He has not shared any with us and we do not have any papers .
Sailesh Kumar Shah (Expert) 23 March 2012
engage advocate and ask him to prepare search report of property, after inspecting records from sub-registrar office.
adv. rajeev ( rajoo ) (Expert) 23 March 2012
If you know the property numbers you can get the property extract, you need not to take the shelter of RTI.
Kiran Kumar (Expert) 23 March 2012
otherwise also these are public documents.

In my opinion you need not invoke the provisions of RTI to get these copies.

H.M.Patnaik (Expert) 27 March 2012
As of today the land record data stands uploaded in the Land record portal of appropriate states and if you take little initiative you can search the web- portal going by plot no.wise, local area wise or Tenant wise . You can furthur, obtain certified copies of identified properties from the local tehsil.
umapathi.s (Expert) 28 March 2012
There are multiple avenues. I would suggest you to invoke RTI for better and speedy results. mention the details of the property such as site no or survey no and get the certified copies of the same. Since these documents are public documents, no consent of your brother is needed as Third party information.the certified copy obtained by you in turn can be used for your further legal action.

regards.
