Respected Sir,
My father is a social activist and running a NGo since Bhopal Gas Tragedy. Im a junior lawyer today, as he asked me to be so, coz he during his social experiences developed a mind-set that legal persons can more deeply and effectively perform social goods. He now expect some socio-judicial interventions from me as im an advocate now. :!
Plz assist me how should i pursue legal profession for social works.
Do there is any litmus test for locus standi, which i should follow.
Plz assist me as an absolute junior including criticism if it exists.
Thanking You

My best wishes to you and regards to your father for your concern for the society. Nowadays the parents make their children materialistic and the children become money makers. Since your father is already in the line of social activity, his practical experience will be helpful to you. As advised by experts, join with a senior advocate and gain some experience. Be on this website and browse the necessary topics for knowledge inputs.

Im really very much glad & excited after seeing responses by so many senior experts :)(thats what i till date missed in Bhopal district court).
I met 3 seniors and i would like to discuss my experiences:-
1st said(>10yrs exp):- Dont waste carrier in advocacy, glamor is only in movies not in reality! Try Judicial services and other exams and if fail every where then come here!
2nd(20yrs exp):- it takes minimum of 10years of junior ship to become an advocate! (i joined him, but he attached me with his one assistant and this way one month passed, not got opportunity to hear even one argument and only one cross!)
3rdly:- Wrote letter to a senior Judge, requesting internship. One month passed no response till date!
4thly:- i found many seniors struggling and fighting for clients and money! OMG, i caught assistants manipulating photocopy charges & harassing clients to bribe the clerks (15feet near the judge!) i wonder does this happen all over? He RAM, What a disgrace to such a profession!
But the bottom line is that im now filled with enthusiasm, because i have reasons to believe after 5 senior's prompt and helping response, that not all r same(may b 1 out of 1000) And now ill find some very very good, energetic and willing senior, like u ppl, and will report to u all, Very soon :)
One again Thanking U all...

If you have a particular aim, you should not bother about the bottlenecks. Remember, no system runs as your ideology. You have to adjust with the system when you are in learning process and more so when you wish to do service to the society. For your information, I am only Law Graduate that too of late 70s and never practised law. I was a bank manager. When I applied to the administration of this website to include me in their expert panel, the initial response is refusal. They are right, as I am not a practising advocate. But when I put my stand before why I should be included, they have allowed me. Now within this 2/3 years, I could top-up to the position of 40-30 in the list and I have some satisfaction my Law Degree and my 32 years of service in a Bank is useful at least to some people. It gives peace of mind to them and they need not have to rush to court and waste time and money when there is no point in their case.

You are young and opportunities to get yourself engaged in in public life are plenty.Choose and follow a course and do not try to change horses in mid-stream.
