society registration

Dear Sir,
I live in a chawl in mulund (w).with 110 room available in my area.we want to get our society registered by our own.
select society member have decided to get our society registered.
my question is:
what should be the procedure to get our area registered and with which department should we contact for the same?

Contact the office of the Registrar of Societies.

draft a bye law of your society and submi;t before the Asst., REgistrar of Co-Operative society for registration, it will be sent to the Distr., REgistrar of societies, who will issue the certificate of registration.

Are u the owners of the rooms or merely occupying the rooms in the Chawl as tenants of the owner of the Chawl? If u are all the owners any ten of u can apply for registering urselves as a Coperative Housing Society. If u are all tenants, then u can register urselves as tenants Coop. Housing Society. The application has to be made to the Dy. registrar of Coop. Societies at Bandra (E). You have to adopt the Model Bye laws issued by the Coop Department. A copy of the Model bye laws will be awailable with the Housing socities Federation.
