Yes the period of limitation for claiming past maintenance is three years.

Dear Shivraj,
As I know, the appllication U/s 125(3) Crpc should be filed within one year from the date when it becomes due (from the date of order U/s 125 CrPC).
Otherwise the arrears preciding the one year will be lapsed.
