Right to plead and act

(Querist) 01 September 2009 This query is : Resolved
After getting the enrollment letter from Bar Council of West Bengal can I plead and act before High Court of Calcutta?
whether I have to be a member of Bar Association?
What is the need of being a member of Bar Association?

It must have been mentioned in the enrollment letter about your eligibilty to represent and plead in the Court. Also you wil have to obtain Original Side Registriation Number from the Calcutta High Court. You can become member of Bar Association by submitting application form along with necessary membership fees.

u may take license from any of the Bar councils as constituted in India....and this license entitles to u plead cases before any court in India.

Bar Association membership is not mandatory, but it is advised that it should be taken....a lot of benefits come out of it...better observe it urself.

best of luck :-)
