Is Franking Document if not registered within Six months valid for registration after that(say after 2/3 years)?
Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 15 January 2012
If document has been executed then its validity is 6 months but it not used then it can be used for any time.
Deepak Nair (Expert) 16 January 2012
Legally there is no restricion in using the franked documents after 6 months.

But it is advisable to use it within 6 months as many people are under the impression that the stamp paper is valid only for 6 months. This may create some issues while registration of the document.
B.Chakrapani Warrier (Expert) 16 January 2012
Supreme Court judgment dated 19/02/2008 in the case of Thiruvengada Pillai Vs Navaneethammal and Anr,reported in 2008 (4) SCC 530 says stamp papers do not have any expiry period.
Therefore, there is no impediment for a stamp paper purchased more than six months prior to the proposed date of execution, being used for a document.

Is Franking Document if not registered within Six months valid for registration after that(say after 2/3 years)?

Answer: If executed, then within 4 months and thereafter of permission of competent authority another 4 months.

After completing 8 months from the date of execution, document could not be registered.

If stamp paper not executed, then its valid.

However, in case of Maharashtra State, As per provisions of Bombay Stamp Act, 1958, a stamp paper should not be older than 6 months from the date of its execution so there is no scope to use the stamp papers in your hand.

Shailesh Kr. Shah (Expert) 21 January 2012
@Mr.Soni Kartik

can you provide relevant law about this?

@Mr.Soumitra Basu

Is it?
I feel that Section 23 of the Indian registration act also applies at WB.
