As per Law, and FC Acts, YOU ARE ALLOWED TO HANDLE YOUR OWN CASE.

Purchase FAMILY COURT ACT, & FAMILY LAWS, and if you are educated of normal prudence, you can easily handle it.
Judge will help you, whenever you err.

Wish you best of Luck.
U may consult Shri Shonee Kapoor, how he handle his own case.

The court is ask for filing proof affidavit of the petitioner, If you are a respondent you can cross examined the petitioner without engaging advocate no problem. But before doing so you have to keep in mind that you are taking double edged weapon.

Anyone can appear party-in-person, irrespective of the nature of the case.
