Punching in passport

Dear experts

Im accused in 498a 406 case and as per high court order I submitted my passport with investigating officer yesterday my io told me he will punch the holes in my password and attach it with my file when he will submitt the challan in court

Its shocking to me how cum he can punch hole in my passport is it true that police can punch up in my passport

Offer him a punched folder, in which he can keep the passport.[ Like CD, that one cannot punch] for production of evidence.

Request the IO to submit the passport in sealed envelop (preferably transparent) and the corner of envelop may be tagged / punched.

The IO or for that matter any governmental agency dealing with such type of cases give very scant respect and importance to sensitive documents of this nature, may be because of their casual and arrogant approach. You can offer the suggestions opined by the experts above while handling such issues to the IO explaining him the importance of the document as well the impact of his such act on the document's validity/authenticity.
