Overseas indian card for my new born child

(Querist) 08 March 2015 This query is : Resolved
I am an Australian citizen now. I did surrender my Indian Passport and i have been issued a OCI card. My wife is a Bangladeshi national and she is a permanent resident in Australia. We have been blessed with a Son recently.

1) Does my new born baby eligible for OCI card?

2) Is there any long term visa my wife can apply for?

Thank you so much for you valuable advise

Your child is eligible for OCI card but not your wife. She can apply for visa but not OCI.

Thank you so much. Ministry of home affair's website does not say anything clear in this case.

May be but apply for your son anyway.

Consult Indian High Commission Australia for details.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 11 March 2015
Your wife being a foreigner she can apply for Indian citizenship vouching on the spouse's citizenship provided you reside in India, you should confirm your status for eligibility. You may clarify further details by calling on the Indian High Commissioner's office at Australia.
