Hi,
Please let me know the process for marriage registration. (if possible, in Gorakhpur.
Also, let me know whether both Husband and wife needs to be present at Registrar office. Ai m asking this because I am currently out of India for 2 months and for getting VISA for my wife, marriage ertificate is necessary. Do I need to come to India, to get my marriage registered or can i sign the documents and send it to my relative.

Citizen Services /Acts/Hindu Marriage Act/ Hindu Marriage Act Rules-
Rule 5 & 6 contemplates parties to marriage should personally present the application and sign in the Register -Both parties to the Marriage have to sign in the Marriage Registration-Register-

Yes, you both are required to be present before the Registrar Marriage because of yours signatures and finger impressions on the registration form along with two witnesses.
REGARDING THE MARRIAGE REGISTRATION KINDLY NOTE THAT
1.BOTH THE PARTIES BRIDE AND GROME SHOULE BE PRESENT AND HAVE TO SIGN THE MARRIAGE REGISTRATION FORM AND THEIR PHOTOS AND THUMB IMPRESSIONS AND SIGNATURES AND ALL DETAILS ARE RECORDED ON THE COMPUTERISED RECORDS OF MARRIAGE REGISTRAR.THIS IS THE GENERAL PROCEDURE. Both should be present alongwith the witnesses, both parents if possible to get the registration done properly and legally.
