Manager threatening!!!!

(Querist) 09 February 2012 This query is : Resolved
Hi i have been working in HCL BPO in chennai for past more than a year now,i have got a good offer from an other company and when i expressed my interest to my manager that i want to resign,he is literallly threatening me that if i put down my resignation i will be terminated, its just because to save his ATTRITION.I have not got any warning letters too but he asks me to stay till june and only then he will relieve me.

HR people and my manager have a very good rapport so even if i go and speak to HR they ask me to speak with my manager.

Am under alot of stress because of this problem,So please help me what i can do to relieve with proper papers from this company.

your appointment letter must be mentioning period of notice .

issue 3 months notice to company that you want to resign (presume it is mentioned in appointment letter)

Yes, Ur employment letter contains a phrase like before resignation u should give them 3 months prior notice..

My suggestion is.. convince the new employer reg the matter.. And when u email ur resignation letter (on humanitarian grounds), keep a copy and better send a hand written letter through registered post..
Keep interacting wid ur HR

In Private employments the employee often remain vulnerable to such pressure tactics of the employer.

If you have any notice period then serve it after submitting resignation letter.
If no then if you afford then simply quit and job and lodge a complaint to the Police stating the duress exercised by your employer.

Ya in my offer letter its clearly mentioned that if am resigning then i should serve a notice period for 30 days,am ready to serve it but my manager keeps telling that if i drop my papers then he would surely terminate me.

There are no black marks on me reg my behavior or performance or no warning letters nothing.Since he has good rapport with HR people even if i go for help to them they r asking me to speak to my manager, which is of no use i have already clearly explained my situation to him but he cares only about his "ATTRITION" metric.

There are certain real time incidents like one of my colleague dropped his papers when my manager asked him not to,when he finished serving his notice period hr people told that there was escalation on him and he has been terminated.

Am really confused reg what to do,coz am planning to do my masters abroad next year and this experience matters me alot so please provide ur suggestions.
