How to identify a village land

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 14 October 2010 This query is : Resolved
I understand that village land is still identified on the basis of "khasra" numbers. Normally, these numbers are never displayed on a village land. The Village Patwari holds all the records and authentic land marks. Is it necessary to go throguh Village Patwari only, any other alternatives

No other option. He is the competent person endowed with the powers by the Revenue Department to identify the survey stones and the boundaries of any land. The boundaries and the numbers identified by him alone are authentic and will be relied on for any purposes.

Records are maintained by the Patwari and Thahasil also. Need not to depend on the Patwari.
