Quite often we come across notifications published in the Gazette of India. They are named for example as, S.O 123 (E) and some times rules made under any act are named as for instance, G.S.R 444 (E). What is the full form of S.O, (E), and G.S.R.in these titles?

S O means Sanction Order.... G S R means General Statutory Rules.... If you search properly you will get... For further clarification you can contact the Controller of Publications at cop-dep@nic.in

S O means Statutory Orders (not sanction order) Regret typing mistake... The meaning of 'E' may be Extraordinary Gazette.. Any how send e mail to cop-dep@nic.in for clarifications.. Good Luck
