Sirs,
I have applied for my First time New Passport.
I went to Police Station with all my documents. Birth Certificate, PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Driving License, School/College certificates.
Police Office asking for Electricity Bill which was provided which is in my father's name and our entire family lives as joint family.
Now the Officer is asking for Birth Certificate of my father.
My father was born in Unnao, Utter Pradesh and he does not have any certificate.
My father has Aadhar Card, PAN Card.
Kindly guide for Adult's Passport Application Father's Birth Certificate is necessary for submission.
Thank you

The police cannot insist production of your father's birth certificate.
They can very well demand the documents pertaining to you to verify your permanent address and authenticity.

No, the police do not require your father's birth certificate for your passport verification in India; they primarily verify your identity and residential address.

The mandate of the Police is this case is to ascertain that you are residing on this address and No case is pending against you.

Meet Higher Officer in person and submit written complaint.

What is the purpose of asking birth certificate of your father in verification of your passport ? Unbelievable statement.
However, it is better to consult and engage a local prudent lawyer with relevant records for proper appreciation of facts and circumstances, professional advise and necessary proceeding.
