Hi

I have a divorce decree and i need to change my 3 year old daughters surname to my surname which can be used officially by her. Can you help me with the procedure to be followed in maharashtra for the same

no simple letter on husband letter head that he has no objection to change in daughter surname should suffice

Though you can start using a new name for her but your husband every right to oppose it by going to court.
Do not complicate post divorce scenario by going for change of her name.

Yes, i also replied without consent of your husband you can not change his name. If you do so he can file case against you which would jeopardise career of the chld only.

As I dnt want anything of his to b attached wid my daughter as we hv not been staying together from the time shes born bcoz of his stupid a td and got divorced when she was 10 months.
