dear sir,
My deceased father was an officer in corporation bank.
Bank has provided us neither compassionate appointment nor Ex gratia amount in lieu of job.
They rejected our application saying that total monthly income of the family is more than 60% of the last drawn gross salary of deceased employee.
So please guide us in this matter.
thank you.

Compassionate appointment is not a matter right. It is allowed only if the family becomes destitute and does not have an earning member etc. If the bank did not pay the gratuity, you can pursue the matter with the bank. you may seek the help of the Officers Association also.

Payment of ex-gratia and appointment of relative of deceased employee under compassionate grounds, are at the discretion of the bank and also under the policy of the individual bank.

generally the banks are yielding on the grant of compassionate employement depending on the eligibility conditions of the applicant of the deceased as also the ex gratia sanction. raise the level or if still they fail, then file an appeal with the banks ombudsman for suitable relief
