interest for delay and damages/costs

I have received my mediclaim money from an PSU insurance company after huge delay and harrassment.

I intend to ask for interest and damages/costs from the company.

What rate of interest can I ask for? And how much damages/costs (due to innumerable reminders, telecons, etc for a period of one year)should I ask for? How much is generally awarded by the courts or by the Ombudsman.

If you filed a suit court has got power to award 6% p.a.
If want to initiate any action against the ins., co., issue notice claiming the interest and damages, if co., didn'g respond then file a consumer case for not rendering better service.

you have both the remedies available i.e. filing of civil suit and consumer case. in which you can claim relief as you stated. The interest rate, amount of damages and compensation, you have to assess yourself. It is for the court to decide to what extent you are entitled for. Normally, the interest is awarded at the p reveling bank rate and damages and compensation are awarded notionally.
