Clubbing of civil suit

Respected Advocates,
Please tell me whether two civil suit having same/ similar claim be clubbed or tried jointly or not ? Please mention specific provision of C.P.C. if any.

The court can consolidate two suits for a common judgement once it finds parties common
and issues common.section 151 is there as healer of all sores in litigation.

I think it is upon the motion of parties the court gets jurisdiction to club the cases and not of its own; but I dont claim accuracy in what I say now.
