Is a wife demanding separate accommodation be considered a sufficient reason to stay away from the husband and thereby draw maintenance from her husband.

Yes. The given reason is sufficient to prove that wife has sufficient reasons to live away from her husband.

Even though this is considered as a ground, maintenance will not be granted on this grond alone. The husband can always defend the claim on various grounds too.

Agreeing with Mr Shonee Kapoor I will add that demand of seperate residence does not arise from nowhere. There is a background and series of greivances which you hvenot stated.
