Dear Sir,
1 year ago my original documents of my house had gone missing. My Brother used to stay with me during the same time, but because of his rowdy habits and ways , we parted ways and he started illegally occupying the ground floor of my house. We had filed a police complaint when the documents were lost but the police closed the case saying that they could not trace the documents, recently i came to know that My brother has all the documents which we perceived as stolen/lost.
He is a very dangerous man with all political and police connection.
Is there any way i can get my documents back from him just based on the doubt that he has got the documents with him.I really cant p[rove that he has got the documents, but yes one of my relatives had confirmed the same as he has seen it in his possession and also my brother confirmed the same.
Please let me know the way i can get my documents back legally.
Thanks
John

Sorry on the basis of doubt merely and not on any proof , you have no case.
It is better if you bury the past and move ahead.
If he submit those papers in any public department then you may try to lodge complaint on his false allegations but then he may take plea of subsequent discovery of those things.

agreed with Mr Burman I will add that you get duplicate certified copy of papers.

Inform Police with " yes one of my relatives had confirmed the same as he has seen it in his possession"
Police may try recover from ur brother and that man who saw it

Thanks, i have got the duplicate certified copies and also i had published a notice in Times of India and Indian Express about the documents being lost.
Barman sir,
Can you please elaborate what you mean by "but then he may take plea of subsequent discovery of those things."
Shroff Sir,
He has paid large amount of money to the circle inspector to shut the case. so i doubt if the police will really do something to him rather they will start harassing me.

Dear Shroff Sir,
After reading your advice, i even asked my cousin to be a witness , but he flatly refused saying that he does not want to get into any trouble with police and courts

Crux of solution to the problem lies only in the evidence.
