The word Article is used generally to indicate the provisions in an agreement- eg., Articles of agreement. It also refers to the division or paragraphs in a document. It is nothing but a practice adopted world over to refer to the provisions in the constitution of a country as Articles. The word Section also has similar meaning of indicating a para or division in a document. It is nothing but practice that the provisions in an Act are referred to as Sections in contradistinction to the provisions of the constitution.
