Dowry claim

My younger brother married in April'2004 and his wife left him in june'2006(went in her brother's marriage & not returned).My father expired in Jan'2010 and my brother expired on 7th May'2011. Now his wife is claiming for the dowery items and jewellery from me and she has filed the claim in the court. Pls suggest what should I do? whether it is claimable from me?

If that istridhan is lying legally (on the basis of some cogent and reliable evidence) with you, only the it can be claimed from you otherwise no chance of success to her petition.

No. She has to prove your possession of the items. However, she can approach the court for a warrant for a search & seizure of her goods.

If any case is filed against you then it is advisable to apply for anticipatory bail at the earliest.
