Dear Experts,

Suppose the land at Haryana is gifted by Mr.X. My query is, whether the gift deed can be registered at Mumbai, even though the propery is at Haryana.

Gift Deed must be registered within the Revenue Jurisdiction of the said property. In this case, you cannot registered the deed at Mumbai.

Whether the power of attorney authorising the person for registration, can be registered at mumbai.

I differ from the experts. Such a gift deed can be registered at Mumbai. Section 30(2) of the Registration Act, 1908 provides as follows:
"(2)The Registrar of a district in which a Presidency-Town is included and the Registrar of the Delhi district may receive and register any document referred to in section 28 without regard to the situation in any part of India of the property to which the document relates."
