I got married in November 2022, and we don’t have any children. I did not take anything in dowry. However, my wife’s behavior has been very rude, and she has filed cases under 498A, maintenance, and dowry against me in court. During mediation, a settlement amount of ₹10 lakhs was proposed.
My monthly income is ₹1.5 lakhs, while my wife earns ₹30,000 per month. Should I go for the settlement or contest the case in court? Also, will I still be liable to pay maintenance even though there is no child ?

It is better to go for a settlement. You have to maintain, though she is earning. However, you can revert to the dowry case and pay maintenance as she is earning.

You can very well challenge her case in the trial court properly, especially if she is employed and having sufficient source of income to sustain her expenses you can refuse to pay her maintenance.
However if you want to resolve the matter by paying the one time settlement amount, you can use your own wisdom to decide about it

If you want to teach a lesson to your wife contest the case(s) tooth and nail she has limited right to claim maintenance and cannot prove cruelty for dowery demand.
If you want to buy peace you may bargain for amount of alimony for mutual consent divorce.
Choice and decision is your persoal matter.

"Even if the wife is earning, there are still high chances that I may have to pay maintenance, as it ultimately depends on the judge. If the maintenance is fixed at around 30–40K, I’ll be trapped in a tough situation because my salary is much higher compared to my wife’s."
