apology for prank call

sir, I recently pranked on of my friend which I should not have done. It has now gone serious and she has complained to the police. Now I have been asked to appear in the police station. I feel sorry for the call. Will I get a chance to apologise. Should I write an apology letter to the police as to this will not repeat hereafter.
