Dear Seniors,

Greetings!

Can an employee get the exemption for the medical insurance premium paid by cash?

If No, is there any written statement provided by IT department.

Insurance premium can be paid by cash,cheque,DD and now some companies accept by Credit Card,NEFT too!

So the insured should not face any difficulty in getting benefit of deduction.

He can get the benefit of deduction in IT for payment of medical insurance premium. Receipt from insurance co. is proof of payment.

To obtain deduction u/s 80D (Health Insurance premium):-

1) Payment for preventive health check up can be paid in cash and
2) for other policies mode of payment of premium should be other than in cash.
