Advice - divorce

(Querist) 22 September 2012 This query is : Resolved
Dear Sirs,

After 13 years of struggle with the respondent prolonging the case in the trial court, finally the trial court rendered natural justice by award of divorce under Christian Marriage.

Kindly request the experts to advice on the following:

1. Christian law allows for re-marriage and if I am able to have someone who can understand me and of my divorce, is it mandatory that I should provide her a copy of the award for her reference and records?

2. What is the waiting period for re-marriage in Christian law after obtaining the award of divorce?

3. Will the re-marriage be legal and will she have an undisputed legal status, so that I can use her name as nominee in all the records.

Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestion.

1. It is not mandatory nor Law ask you to do so. It is purely satisfying once curiosity as and if asked.

2. 90 days are Appeal period.

3. If re-marriage is done following parties personal Laws then it is a legal re-marriage. Yes, post such legal re-marriage “change in nomination” OR placing spouse name as “nominee” is a perfect way.
