Surname name is different in 10th and 12th certificate

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 04 October 2011 This query is : Resolved
hello,
my surname is JATOB i am a hindu.
my surname was wrongly/mis printed as JAKOB in my SSC and pre university certificate.
i have finished my degree. and i didnot try to get any personal ID like- driving lisence/voter id/pass port because of the reason that someday i will change my surname and then ll think of getting one.
but currently i am in need of A PASSPORT . and i don't have time to go to the boards to make corrections in my surname printed in all my certificates.
I WANT TO KNOW what social/legal/ problems i could face if i get a passport with surname 'JAKOB'(which sounds like a christian according to all the peoples who heard it/read it)

No social or legal problem.

Still I would advise you to get your surname duly changed first and then apply for Passport. Yes, you may be in a hurry to get the passport, but it was your lethargy in not getting the things done in time, in spite of noting the mistake. You should get the correction effected, before applying for the passport.

yes ,i agree you must get things done in order before you apply for your passport.
Sailesh Kumar Shah (Expert) 04 October 2011
Not to face difficulty in future, you should get correction the same.

Agreed with common views of all experts.
