My ex-husband has got ex parte divorce in Jan 2010. I came to know about this through my father. He has put so many things in the divorce application which have not happened. If I leave it without appealing anything against it, will it affect my future or career. My jewels (23 pouns) are with them. Can I recover it now. Can I get any compensation from him if I appeal now. Kindly help.

1. Challenge exparte decree 2. File petition under domestic violence act and seek protection including medicle and shelter. You may also claim returning of jewels

Court proceeds against a party ex-parte only after service of summons. If summons of the divorce petition were duly served on you, then how can you say that you were not aware of the case. In case there is manipulation on the part of your husband in getting ex-parte decree against you, you can also file a criminal complaint against him besides applying for setting aside of the ex-parte decree.
