Yes it is valid for 1/3rd of the estate of the person making the will.Balance 2/3rds will devolve on the heirs of the person as per Islamic Law of succession.

You can execute Will bequeathing only 1/3rd of the property which is called as Wasiyatnama also, as per Muslim personal law.
