Missing it return beyond 3 years

Hi,

I am a salaried employee. I have been abroad during the IT assessment year 2009-10, and returned after a year. From then i missed filing the IT return and it got piled up. What can I do now to clear all my dues in filing returns? What is meant by time barred return filing? I am ready to pay any penalty but need to clear my liabilities.

Please help.
