Disciplinary proceedings can be started. If proved that the college has done so knowingly, its affiliation can be cancelled.

A per your version you've not violated any service contract and you've a clean record as far as your service is concerned. In case you are anticipating any highhanded and arbitrary action by the employer on this issue your remedy lies in Writ before the High Court of your State and seek directions-both interim as well as in the main Writ to your employers to prevent them resorting to any highhanded disciplinary action against you. That way- many Government employees are pursuing many higher education courses and it is your fundamental right under our Indian Constitution(,Right To Equality(Art 14)Right to Life and personal liberty)(Art 21) to pursue higher education to further your career. It's not a crime at all. But, you should've taken permission. But it's not fatal to your case.
