Hidden corruption

Dear sir, We are running proprietorship firm in family business. we are regularly marketing our products through a state govt owned marketing company. The branch manager is insisting for rs.20000 for his home needs. We have denied to pay but he is not co operating further as we have not paid him so our business is in trouble. Under which law he can be punished and how much? what ipc are applicable in this case?

Why FIR was not lodged then and there?

You do not need to know law for reporting a person asking you to pay bribe.That's the business of cops.

Demanding bribe is a crime. You may lodge FIR. Better get him trapped through anti corruption wing.
