Stamp duty payable

(Querist) 18 August 2012 This query is : Resolved 
Dear Friends

one of my clients has obtained a decree from court whereby his right to buy a property is established.....the suit regarding this right was filed in 1996 . Now the question is whether the purchaser will have to pay the stamp duty based on the then market value of the property or the current market value?

stamp duty will be determined as per the rate fixed by the govt., presently.

Stamp duty is payable on the market value of the property prevailing on the date of execution of the sale deed.
